Kent County Gift Presentation

So let me tell you what happened ...

DONUTS AND COPS

I arrived at Kent County Sheriff Dept for our iCI gift presentation. I was greeted by a Lieutenant who walked me back to the warehouse size room where 50 officers were being trained on de-escalation. .

It was definitely an "intimidating" site, ....

If I didn't have donuts 😉

I quietly snuck in and placed four dozen donuts on the back table that had been generously donated by Marge's Donut Den. That would help grease the wheels of connection!

THANK YOU MARGE!

He walked me back out to the lobby to wait for the others while explaining how valuable and tight their training schedule was. He was appreciative we were there but wanted us to be efficient and quick.

No problem!

People started to arrive and we were officially ushered back to the training room.

SHOW TIME!

The Lt. introduced iCI Nation to the group and we were off!  I took center stage and first thanked the leaders for allowing us the opportunity in front of all 50 of them.

Let me comment here that the majority of these 50 officers were patrol officers. They're not the community officers who go to fun stuff and hear positive things. These guys need to hear encouragement.

And getting an audience with 50 Officers at a time - rare and highly valued.

    Back to the story!

The iCI community members began to share why they took time out of their schedules to prioritize the police.

Each shared from their hearts how they value them, Believe in them, teach their kids about them,...

Pastor Bergsma even prayed over them.

I then encourage the officers to receive the words that were expressed today because we weren't thanking them, "Just for doing their job" . We were thanking them for CHOSING to do that job.

- Rushing fast with their sirens blazing in the direction we don't want to go!

Hopefully when they see the ici gifted picture frame in the hall, they will remember the things expressed that day!

CROSSING THE FINISH LINE WITH DONUTS

So we finished in record time!

We were so efficient that the Lieutenant announced they could take a break and have coffee and donuts with us!

Lucky us!.... because Officers came out of their way to say thank you, take pictures, smile and let us in for that moment.

And as far as the Lt....he sent me an email:

Please thank all your members for showing up and giving our people a bit of a boost. It is always great to hear good things from the community. It happens much to rarely and is always great to hear.

Thanks again for all of your support!

And that is what fuels us to continue connecting cops and community to strengthen the city!

.

Stay tuned because we are creating a momentum... And you are part of it! 😃

Blessings,

Jenn
